On October 4, 2023, marked a new historic milestone for the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) – becoming one of seven higher education institutions in Vietnam operating under the model of “Multidisciplinary and Multifield University.” From this point forward, UEH officially embarks on a new journey with a new mission: to collaborate with the community and the world, addressing common societal and global issues, aiming towards a bright and sustainable future. Welcoming this new journey, the “University Day” series of activities for the UEH community has officially commenced!
Building a New Future – “FUTURE GENERATIONS”
After 47 years of construction and development, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has excellently fulfilled its important/strategic mission entrusted by the Party, State, and previous generations: to become a key national public university, large-scale and of high quality in training and scientific research in economics, management in Vietnam. Furthermore, through the relentless efforts of many generations, UEH has always been a pioneering educational institution – creative in three areas: Education, Research, and Social Responsibility – Community; UEH takes pride in its significant position on the higher education map of Vietnam and gradually affirms its academic reputation on the world stage with reputable rankings: The first and only economics university in Vietnam to enter the top 401+ (QS Asia University Rankings 2023); Ranked among the Top 1 best universities in Vietnam and among the Top 66 leading universities in Asia according to the U-Multirank 2022 ranking; Top 8 best universities in Vietnam, leading in Economics, Management, Business, and Law for 4 consecutive years according to the Webometrics 2022 ranking; Top Top 298 best universities in Asia according to SCImago’s 2022 publication; Leading 9 universities in Vietnam, honored to be in the top 301-400 leading universities globally contributing to the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations according to THE Impact Rankings 2023…
Continuing this development, UEH is still aiming for something better by nurturing positive values based on its existing wealth of knowledge. UEH bears the responsibility to become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, globally integrated, responsible to the community, the country, and the common issues of the world. Above all, it is the responsibility towards a new generation, the future generation.
As the heart of a university, UEH students in the present and future not only reflect diversity in society but also develop academic and professional skills along with awareness of the environment, ethics, and social responsibility. The future generation of UEH will collaborate with the community and the world, addressing common societal and global issues towards a bright and sustainable future. The mission in the past has created a UEH today that is steadfast and confident in moving forward, and UEH today is also the nurturing ground for knowledge, spreading inspiration to fulfill the next mission step by step.
“University Day” series of activities: Welcoming the new journey – UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University
Ready for a new journey – the “University Day” series of activities of UEH will take place from November 6th to 18th, 2023, featuring meaningful events for all students, staff, and partners of UEH with creative and groundbreaking ideas, connecting generations towards a common goal of “Developing UEH as a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University.”
Various activities will take place within the framework of the event including:
1. ArtCamp Exhibition and Mindmap model from November 6th to 18th, 2023
To convey the message “Sustainable Lifestyle In Community,” excellent images from the ArtCamp 2022 competition will be exhibited at the UEH exhibition. Each artwork aims to promote meaningful values: Smart living and modern society; Sustainable lifestyle towards environmental protection, civilized society, prosperous community, and economic development; Human-centered living; Global citizenship – sustainable action – community benefits; Leading change and artistic inspiration; From circular campus to green university. From there, contribute to spreading sustainable living in the community, especially among the future generations of UEH.
At the same time, the Mindmap model of UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable created by UEH lecturers together during the UEH Day program in 2022 will also be displayed at this event, demonstrating the vision and determination in preparation for the future journey.
2. Mindmap competition “UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable” for students
To convey the messages and strategies of the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University to UEH students so that they can understand and act together with the university, the “UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable” mindmap competition will be held from November 2nd to 9th, 2023. With themes provided by the UEH organizing committee, each team will brainstorm, discuss, and present meaningful, creative, and practical solutions on a mind map. Each team’s product will be ideas and initiatives contributing to the university’s development strategy in the coming period and will be exhibited at the “University Day” event on November 18th, 2023.
3. “Proud UEH Sing-Along Project”
Demonstrating the youthfulness, enthusiasm, effectiveness, and pride of UEH youth towards the important milestone event marking the affirmation of the brand of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, the “Proud UEH Sing-Along Project” involving over 1000 students will be officially launched on November 18th, 2023.
4. “Letter to Future Generations” campaign from November 13th to 18th, 2023
Believing that every UEH individual who has been with UEH over the past period feels proud and desires to share joy with the achievements and new journey of UEH, the “Letter to Future Generations” campaign will be a place for everyone to send their good wishes, personal messages, and affirm their unwavering faith in the new journey.
Over 4,700 wishes and images from individuals sent to the UEH Chatbox tool will be pieces contributing to the meaningful “I LOVE UEH” image, marking the special imprint of 47-year-old UEH.
5. Union activities for UEH Staff, Former UEH Staff
To pioneer in the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University journey requires the unity and dedication of all staff, workers, students, alumni, and the support of former staff generations for the university’s strategy. Therefore, meaningful union activities will be implemented throughout the period, notably the English Karaoke program for staff (November 10, 2023), and the Retirees’ Meeting (November 16, 2023).
6. Announcement Ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Decision to transform the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City into the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City
On November 18, 2023, the Announcement Ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Decision to transform the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City into the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will officially take place directly at Hall A.116 and online on various technology platforms, marking a very important milestone in nearly 50 years of establishment and development of UEH.
This is the most important activity within the “University Day” series, for all staff, students, partners of UEH, with the participation of state leaders, ministries, departments, etc., witnessing the significant transformation of UEH. Affirming a UEH with a history of solidarity, humanity, compassion, dynamism, creativity, pioneering innovation, proactive integration, embracing global trends, developing from internal capacity to become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, with a reputation in the Asia region and globally. At the same time, honoring and praising the generations of UEH lecturers who have contributed, strived, and been dedicated to maintaining and developing the academic image, reputation, and credibility of UEH, laying an important foundation for UEH’s new development phase in the coming time.
With a new position and stature, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City on the new journey greatly needs the understanding, unity, and companionship of all staff, workers, students, alumni, and partners. And the “University Day” series of activities will be the opening event for this important phase. A spirit of “Pioneering Innovation – Connecting Generations – Spreading Passion” will continue to be nurtured and spread strongly in each UEH individual to build a pillar of “steadfast faith” on the journey of the Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University.
