About SMD
SMD is a faculty of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City As part of the strategy to restructure and position the UEH brand into a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, the School of Media Design (SMD) was established in February 2022 with the mission of bringing technology to life and integrating art and design. The faculty’s vision is to become a leading center for media design education and media project development in Vietnam.

Its mission is:
● Educating a new generation of students for creative and art inspiration in a sustainable integration way.
● Providing media events, activities and art exhibition through a hub for a whole Community. Besides, throughout the education process SMD always stick with their 5 core values:
1. Creativity
Creativity is the process of generating novel, meaningful, and valuable ideas. It is a skill that requires an individual to think about things differently.
2. Art inspiration
Art inspires creativity and imagination. It is a source of inspiration for many artists. But it can also be a source of inspiration for people who are not creative in the traditional Sense.
3. Integration
Integrating a company into the business communication media is essential to sustainability, in addition to art as inspiration.
4. Sustainability
Sustainability isn’t about conserving all of the time. It’s about coming up with new ways to live in balance with today, tomorrow, and now.
5. Technology
Technology is shaping the world, and guiding us to the future. Students will acknowledge emerging technologies through research activities and real-world applications. In 2022, the faculty brought out a new fantastic training program called Digital Communication and Multimedia Design, which trains students to become managers of media and digital communication, design, and production in the context of global integration and new technology networks. In addition, the training program cooperates with foreign businesses and universities to support students in implementing practical communication projects in businesses and communities, helping students to practice and experience the environment, new workplace.

The globe is becoming a more advanced place, it leads to a circumstance that there are more and more problems existing, including climate change, racism, gender equality and the like. As the generation who leads this current era, we have the responsibility to figure out how to solve all these problems, by studying and researching, working on things needed to help a certain issue. The next reason that needs to be mentioned is that if we don’t step out of our comfort zone, we will be eliminated in this competitive world. In a more specific word, we need to go outside, meet new people, experience new things that we haven’t tried, so that our horizons can be broadened. Thus, this leads to a more complete person, who is ready for the rival era of the talents.
The final reason why we come to the world is connecting with others. Human beings are social creatures. Whether we are forming close relationships with family and friends, collaborating with colleagues on a shared project, we are constantly seeking ways to reach out and form meaningful connections with those around us.

● First, objectively speaking, we are able to “come to the world” because of the encouragement provided by the learning environment at UEH in general and SMD in particular. SMD and UEH provide SMder with a vibrant, multicultural learning environment that gives students the chance to express themselves and interact with current global trends. Additionally, studying at SMD-majoring in communication technology demonstrates modernity and keeping up with trends. Besides theories from books, SMDer has the opportunity to get access to practical projects which are incredibly applicable. It can be said that SMD has provided substantial preparation so that students can come to the world.
● Second, we suppose “Come to the world” comes from the efforts of each individual, subjectively. As SMDers, we ought to be prepared to enter the world and to become global citizens who can adapt to social changes. The most important thing is still the awareness in each individual, and the transformation into action. SMDer takes advantage of opportunities to come to the world. On the journey of self-development, it is necessary to develop professional abilities, soft skills and build yourself a mindset as a global citizen, ready for international integration.
